The Bus Pass Bandit has been known to encroach into Oxfordshire on occasions, with the market town of Banbury being somewhere he has developed a fondness for. Naturally there was one particular pub firmly in his sights for a pint pit stop, more of which shortly...
First off, the Bandit arrives at Banbury Station where trains to London and Birmingham are said to be fast and frequent!
The Town Hall in Banbury (above) and the corner of Bridge Street (below). The Coal, Coke, Cake, Forage lettering is particularly memorable.
As for any pub pickings... yes it had to be Ye Olde Reine Deer Inn on Parsons Street, which is the oldest pub in Banbury and has a distinctive protruding sign.
Hook Norton Happiness amid the timeless coaching inn surroundings.
The Bandit is always partial to anywhere with links to the English Civil War, so Ye Olde Reine Deer's Globe Room is of special interest.
St Mary's Church
Not forgetting the famous Banbury Cross...
... where nearby is the 'fine lady upon a white horse' (as immortalised in the well-known nursery rhyme).
Last but not least, Tooley's Historic Boatyard by the Oxford Canal.
