Bus Pass Bandit: Part Eighty Seven - WARWICK

As the recent warm temperatures dip ever so slightly, the Bus Pass Bandit braves the heat with a July jaunt close to his own doorstep...

For Bus Pass Travels 87 the Bandit is out and about around Leamington and Warwick, starting at The Plough & Harrow at Whitnash.

An opening half of Timothy Taylor's Landlord.

St Margaret's Church at Whitnash.

Back in Warwick is the WanderBar on Swan Street, a specialist cocktail bar.

They also have a Staropramen Czech pilsner.

This is followed by the Thirsty Bear micropub on Smith Street.

The Naughty & Nice Honeycomb Crunch is a chocolate stout from the Vocation Brewery... but is the Bandit naughty or nice?

And finally to the Montgomery of Alamein at Hampton Magna.

A Thatchers Gold cider to finish.

Bus Pass Bandit: Part Eighty - GAYDON & BARFORD

Just when you think the Bus Pass Bandit must have covered every inch of Warwickshire within a certain radius of Warwick, Leamington Spa and Stratford, he uncovers more unseen corners to investigate...

The Bandit ventures forth to explore some new areas of Warwickshire, starting at The Malt Shovel Inn at Gaydon.

The first pub with a resident parrot! The beer is "Old Golden Hen" (as opposed to Pretty Polly).

Gaydon Village Hall has a very distinctive appearance.

The Church of St Giles at Gaydon.

Then onwards to Loxley, near Wellesbourne, for a stop at The Fox.

A cunning taste of Cheltenham Gold from Goffs Brewery.

The next stop is at Barford for The Granville Arms.

And a Wye Valley HPA.

Time for a final bonus stop at The Racehorse on the Stratford Road in Warwick.

The theme reflects the Warwick Racecourse nearby.

A Rosie's Pig cloudy cider to complete the day.

Bus Pass Bandit: Part Fifty Eight - WARWICK

Mix glorious May sunshine with good company and even more of Warwick's finest beer discoveries, and you have a recipe for the Bus Pass Bandit's latest day out...

Warwick Station is the starting point for a rendezvous and some further wanderings around the county town.

A walk along the Emscote Road, including a diversion along the Grand Union Canal, leads to the Slaughterhouse Brewery Tap hidden down Bridge Street.

The beer is intriguingly named 'Poking the Bear' and is being sampled at source right in amongst the brewing vessels.

Retracing our steps along the Emscote Road, we encounter the Nelson.

A Guinness is accompanied by a rather tasty chicken biryani.

Back in the centre of Warwick, on the High Street, is the Warwick Arms Hotel.

These are comfortable surroundings in which to enjoy some Wainwright Gold.

Nearby is the Dough & Brew on Brook Street.

Church Farm IPA is the choice here, while we peruse the speciality pizza menu.

No trip to Warwick is complete without a visit to the Old Post Office. The beer today is Dark Hollow Porter from the Liquid Light Brewery, enjoyed with musical accompaniment!

It is Race Day in Warwick as we make our way beside the Racecourse to the Antelope on the Saltisford.

This pub has a long association with the Royal Warwickshire Regiment, hence the large mural outside. The Antelope was the mascot of the Regiment.

Their Theakstons Quencher is most refreshing.

Our final stop is the nearby Kings Head.

Some Old Golden Hen makes a suitable finale.

Bus Pass Bandit: Part Forty Seven - WARWICK (yet again!)

Proving that he must be a glutton for punishment, the Bus Pass Bandit has made it a hat trick of Warwick Winter Walkabouts. Here is what he got up to in the third of his February trilogy...

The Craftsman on Smith Street seems like a suitable starting point this time around.

The choice here is Deya 'Steady Rolling Man'. The selection of bottled beers is very good too.

The Thomas Lloyd Wetherspoon is a convenient place for lunch, overlooking the Market Place.

A Korean fried chicken bowl is accompanied by Theakstons Old Peculier.

Also in Warwick Square is the Tilted Wig.

And a taste of Timothy Taylor's Boltmaker.

Situated opposite is the Rose & Crown.

Where Harry's Heifer from the local Church Farm Brewery is available.

Nearby in Theatre Street is the Globe.

And some Hophead from the Dark Star Brewery

And finally on to Ronnie's Bar on Jury Street, a memorable place which celebrates Ronnies of various persuasions!

The last drink involves Ronnie's Cider accompanied by just a few of the Ronnies who are honoured here.

Bus Pass Bandit: Part Forty Six - WARWICK (again!)

The Bus Pass Bandit must have gotten quite a taste for Warwick Winter Walkabouts, for here comes his second such outing in as many days...

Picking up where he left off previously, the Bandit starts at the Eagle which can be found on The Holloway.

The Eagle offers a unique cellar atmosphere and some hoppy Ampersand Cascade.

Next on the list is the nearby Old Coffee Tavern.

The Twelfth Night is from Goffs Brewery - note the fancy cutlery holder!

The Old Fourpenny Shop in Crompton Street is an old favourite.

Some Pale Ale from the local Church Farm Brewery will do nicely.

In West Street is the Castle Inn.

And comfortable surroundings in which to enjoy half a Backyard Blonde.

A return visit to the Old Post Office cannot be resisted.

Froth Blowers Riverside Stout makes a good finale.
